Routing

How we decide what a collection costs

We run planned rounds rather than sending a vehicle out per job. That is what keeps collection free on qualifying loads, and it explains why the answer sometimes depends on where you are.

01

On an existing round

Adding a stop to a route we already run costs us very little, so these are the quickest and most likely to be collected free.

02

Near a round

A short diversion, usually absorbed on anything of reasonable tonnage. Lead time depends on when the route next runs.

03

Off-route, good tonnage

Worth a dedicated journey. We will travel a long way for a full load and still pay properly for it.

04

Off-route, small load

Where the journey costs more than the metal is worth. We will say so plainly rather than quoting and adding a fee afterwards.

Ask anyway

The areas above are where we run regularly, not a boundary. Give us a postcode and a rough tonnage and we will tell you honestly whether it works.

Common questions about coverage

Do you charge for collection?

Not on qualifying loads, which generally means enough tonnage to justify the journey, within reach of a route we already run. Below that we offer a small-load option with a fixed fee, and we will tell you which applies before you commit to anything.

Can you leave a container on site?

Yes, where you generate scrap steadily rather than all at once. We drop a container sized to your arisings and swap it when it is full, which usually works out better for both of us than repeated small collections.

Do you cover Northern Ireland or the Scottish Highlands?

Not on routine rounds. For substantial tonnages we will look at it, but for anything modest you will be better served by a local operator, and we would rather say so than take a booking we cannot serve well.

Can you handle a full site clearance?

Yes, including plant dismantling and strip-out. These are surveyed first rather than quoted blind, because access, services and what is left in the building all change the job considerably.
